Tim Wetherall – Trustee

Tim Wetherall (BA (Psych), MEd ChFamPsych, Dip ChFamPsych) is a Child and Family Registered Psychologist who has been practicing for over 12 years. He currently resides in Burnham with his wife and four daughters. Previously, he resided and worked in South Auckland for the past decade after being born and raised on the West Coast of the South Island and studying in Canterbury. His daily role is as a Clinical Services Manager leading four teams of over 40 Psychologists, Therapists and Social Workers based in Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Lower South. He has expertise in the areas of child and young person development, attachment, trauma, behavioural difficulties, supervision and parenting.

Tim was drawn to studying and practicing as a Psychologist after previously being employed by Camp America as a staff member on a Summer Camp near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This Salvation Army Camp offered weeklong camps for disadvantaged young people. After hearing of the hardships of these young people and wanting to help but not having the specialist skillset, Tim completed his 6 years of University Studies to qualify as a Psychologist. He is passionate about working with the teenage population and understands that this is a vital time of influence and identity development.

Tim was encouraged to learn about Moral Compass after relocating to Canterbury in 2022. He was encouraged to hear of the life skills programme aiming to teach, mentor and inspire the next generation. Tim joined the Moral Compass Board in May 2023 to offer further expertise, training and support to the mentoring and life skills programmes. Helping the staff to further understand young people’s presenting concerns and how to support and facilitate their wellbeing is integral to helping their personal wellbeing and development.

Outside of work, Tim really enjoys playing and following sport, loves music and engaging in adventures and outings with his young family.
